(3427 Views)

Canada’s New Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots Open March 31, 2025!

Great news for caregivers! Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced that new permanent residence (PR) pathways for home care workers will launch on March 31, 2025.

These new programs, collectively called Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots, will replace the previous caregiver pathways, which have now expired. The best part? Eligible home care workers will receive permanent residence upon arrival in Canada!

📝 Are You Eligible?
To qualify for these new PR pathways, applicants must:
✅ Achieve a minimum CLB 4 in an official language (English/French).
✅ Hold a credential equivalent to a Canadian high school diploma.
✅ Have recent and relevant work experience.
✅ Secure a full-time job offer in a home care role.

💡 Note: Since June 16, 2024, candidates only need six months of qualifying experience to apply for PR.

📢 More Details Coming Soon!
IRCC has yet to reveal the complete eligibility criteria, but stay tuned! These pilots were first announced on June 3, 2024, following the closure of the previous Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot on June 17, 2024.

🚀 What’s Next for Caregiver Immigration?
Canada has a history of immigration pathways for caregivers, including:
🔹 Live-in Caregiver Program (closed 2014)
🔹 Caring for Children & High Medical Needs Pilots (closed 2019)
🔹 Interim Pathway for Caregivers (closed 2019)
🔹 Home Child Care Provider & Home Support Worker Pilots (closed 2024)

Under Canada’s 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan, IRCC has allocated 10,920 spots for Federal Economic Pilots, which includes:
🔸 The new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots
🔸 Agri-Food Pilot
🔸 Community Immigration Pilots
🔸 Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot
